Becoming a soccer referee is a fantastic way to stay involved in the game, develop leadership skills, and earn money while supporting youth soccer in Prince George. Prince George Youth Soccer Association (PGYSA) is always looking for dedicated referees to help officiate games at all levels, from grassroots to competitive play.
Whether you’re a teen looking for a first job, a former player, or someone passionate about the game, refereeing is a great way to build experience, stay active, and make a difference on the field.

Referee Levels & Training

PGYSA follows BC Soccer and Canada Soccer’s referee development pathway.We offer training and support for new and experienced referees at different levels:

Entry-Level Referee (Small-Sided Games, Ages 12+)

✔ Perfect for youth referees officiating U6-U12 games.
✔ Learn the basics of game management, positioning, and decision-making.
✔ No prior experience needed—we provide all the training!

Full-Field Referee (Ages 14+)

✔ Officiate U13+ matches, including recreational and competitive leagues.
✔ Requires completion of the BC Soccer Entry-Level Referee Course.
✔ Gain experience and work towards higher-level officiating certifications.
