Prince George Youth Soccer Association (PGYSA) Staff Coaches BiographiesSonny Pawar – Acting Head Technical CoachPGYSA is fortunate to have Sonny working with us in an interim capacity. Sonny is in his 5th year as Head Coach of the UNBC TimberWolves Men’s Soccer Team and he has his Provincial B Certification. Sonny played in Canada West soccer for 5 years while attending University of Calgary and University of Alberta, and he competed in the Pacific Coast League for 6 seasons as a player, and then as a player/coach with Khalsa Sporting Club of Vancouver. Sonny continues to play and coach a first division team in the senior soccer league and has also been an assistant coach with the PGYSA Showcase/Junior Academy since its inception, in addition to performing a variety of other Technical Coaching duties for PGYSA. Sonny holds a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Bachelor of Education, and is currently employed with School District 57 in Prince George. Brad Stewart – Development Head CoachBrad played on the BC Selects National Championship team in 1981 and he brings vast playing and coaching experience to PGYSA’s Technical Coaching team. Brad has over 15 years coaching experience, coaching from age 5 right through to adults. Brad is an assistant coach with the UNBC Men’s Soccer Team and he is an integral member of the Technical Coaching Team with PGYSA’s Academy. Brad also coaches a boys Select team and volunteers at numerous PGYSA functions, such as Minifest, Jamboree and Healthy Kids Day. Brad is also a Grassroots Development Instructor for BC Soccer and he has obtained his CCC, CCY, CCS, B-Prep, Provincial B and Goaltending Certifications. Iain Flannagan – Tech Team CoachIain brings 41 years of playing experience and game knowledge to the PGYSA team. As a player and coach, Iain’s qualifications and successes include playing on the Manitoba Provincial Championship team twice, 3 years as a Manitoba Provincial team player, and playing on the Canadian Men’s National Championship team in 1987. Iain was presented the Order of Sports Excellence by the Province of Manitoba in 1987 and in 1990 Iain was named the Honda North/Citizen’s Men’s Team Head Coach. In 2007 Iain was named the BC Soccer Coach of the Year. Iain’s other accomplishments include coaching the U-13 Boys Silver team in 1991, assistant coaching the U-14 Boys Gold team and coaching the U-15 Girls Provincial B Championship team. Iain has 18 years of coaching youth in Prince George. Iain’s coaching certifications include CCY, CCS and Goaltending Certificates. |
