Gold, Silver and Bronze for PGYSA teams!PGYSA is proud to announce that three of its teams competing at the BC Soccer provincial tournaments on the Lower Mainland this weekend have returned home with medals! Pride of place goes to the U15 boys, coached by Brad Stewart and Dave Holmes, who emerged victorious from their gold medal game on Sunday. The boys defeated Kamloops Blaze by a score of 2-1, thanks to goals from Eric Kidwell and Max Berezowski, who scored a penalty to win the game. The U18 boys were not so fortunate, losing their gold medal game 2-0 to Nelson Selects, and therefore coming home with silver medals. The U18 girls, however, were unbeaten in the tournament, although ties in two of the pool games meant that they were in the Bronze Medal game on Sunday, which they won 3-2 over Richmond Rangers. Both U18 teams are primarily made up of younger players, and this bodes well for next year's provincials. The other teams from Prince George in action this weekend also played their playoff games for places on Sunday: U13 boys finished 5th, beating Bulkey Valley Rapids 3-1 in their playoff. U14 girls finished 6th, dropping their final game 2-0 to North Shore Adrenaline U13 girls finished 7th, recording their first win of the week in overcoming Kootenay South Saints by 1-0 U14 boys finished 8th by losing the final game of the week by a score of 5-2 to Gorge FC. The U14 boys are also coming home with a BC Soccer Fair Play award for their play through the week. PGYSA would like to congratulate all players, coaches and parents who have made these results possible, and to once again congratulate our medallists on a fantastic week of soccer. |

U13 B Girls Capture Regional Championship!
A set of exceptionally competitive matches against the Williams Lake Hurricanes saw our girls win the Regional Championships in Prince George on Saturday evening.
The first game of the series was played earlier in the day to a evenly matched 1-1 tie. In the early evening the second game was played with a 0-0 score in regulation time. Two 10 minute overtime halves were play which once again ended in a 0-0 score. On to a shoot out the teams went! After an exciting 6 shots per team the Kodiaks came out the victors with a final score of 3-2.
Coaches, parents and spectators were treated to a fabulous display of soccer by both teams. The U13B Girls will now travel to Richmond from July 7-11th for the Provincials.

PGYSA Teams take gold in Kamloops!PGYSA was strongly represented at the 32nd annual KYSA Slurpee Cup. In all, 12 Kodiak teams made the trip, and 3 of those teams came home with gold medals! Top billing once again goes to the U13A Girls team, who won their 5th straight tournament, and are on course for a strong showing at the Provincials, taking place in June and July. Our other gold medallists were the U14 Girls, and the U15 Boys, who both won tough groups to bring home the medals. Silver medals went to the U12A Boys, the U13A Boys, the U14 Boys, and the U18 Boys. These results mean that more than half of our travelling teams won either gold or silver medals, competing against teams from throughout BC and beyond. Our congratulations go to all our medallists, and to all our teams who played to the best of their abilities.
