Best Wishes to Sipho

PGYSA's Head Technical Coach

The PGYSA Board of Directors and Staff would like to extend their CONGRATULATIONS to Sipho Sibiya, PGYSA’s Head Technical Coach, on his recent coaching advancement opportunities in Vancouver.  We will be sad to see him go, but are very thankful for the commitment and dedication he has shown to PGYSA over the past 4 years.

Sipho’s contributions are greatly appreciated and he is credited for many of the positive changes to PGYSA. His vision for the players and coaches to be all they can be, at whatever level they aspire to, has been the foundation of his work.  Over the past 4 years Sipho has created and facilitated many new programs, providing a clear and appropriate path of development for all PGYSA players. He has certified and trained over 200 coaches through the Grass Roots, CCC, CCY and CCS designations. With the expansion of the various Academy Programs over 600 children are now playing soccer year round.  Sipho has provided a successful pathway for PGYSA players to earn athletic scholarships and play collegiate soccer. The Kickin’ In Schools soccer initiative launched by BC Soccer was embraced by Sipho and the program flourished. Designed to introduce the FUNdamentals of soccer and to promote healthy choices and team spirit to inner city schools, PGYSA’s Kickin’ In Schools program grew from 2 schools to 8 schools, and is now fully sponsored by TELUS. His positive rapport with our governing body has helped to foster a positive relationship between PGYSA and BC Soccer.  His passion for the game and the children is infectious and has provided PGYSA with opportunities to partner with clubs such as Everton FC, Empoli and the Whitecaps.

Sipho will continue to stay connected to PGYSA as a mentor and friend, providing resources and support to coaches, staff and players. He will be back to run our coaching clinics in the spring and if his schedule allows we hope to see him as a guest coach at our summer camps.

PGYSA will be naming an interim Head Technical Coach to work closely with Sipho as the transition takes place. All levels of programming will continue to be delivered with consistency and professionalism, supporting the foundation that has been built over the last 4 years.
